Biography
A newspaper reporter recently referred to Kurth & Taylor as “the most popular band you never heard of.” Fronted by Wally Kurth, a fourteen year veteran of ABC’s “General Hospital” and Christian Taylor, the heartland-rock group toured the country for many years raising over $400,000 for sick children.
Kurth & Taylor came together in 1991 as a duo and added members over the years including, Lee Beverly, Jim Bloodgood, Nick Chetkovich, Chris Nelson, Pat McCormack, Steve Carmack, Johnny Tulucci, Chuck Glass and John Golemon.
In 1993 Kurth & Taylor became “Eddie Maine & The Idle Rich” on the daytime drama, “General Hospital”. For the next few years their many performances garnered them a substantial fan base among the four to five million daily viewers. Subsequently, Kurth was named Soap Opera Digest’s Hottest Male Star of 1996.
During filming of a General Hospital episode of “The Nurses Ball” (a fictitious fund-raiser) the guys were able to spend some time with Jeannie White, mother of Ryan White, which sparked their interest in performing for Pediatric Aids charity events. The band spent the next 10 years performing charity concerts around the country and were awarded “Kurth & Taylor Day” recognition from such cities as Boston, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and San Diego thanks to their humanitarian efforts.
In 2002, Kurth & Taylor received the Emmy Award for “Outstanding Original Song”, “Barefoot Ballet”.
Also in 2002, Wally and Christian, along with old friend J. Stocco, created the television show, “1 Day With…” for Disney’s SOAPnet channel.
